UPCI Wisconsin District Christmas for Christ 2011

For the second straight year, CenterStage was commissioned to produce Christmas for Christ 2011 for the UPCI Wisconsin District’s Home Missions Department. For this short, we were asked to showcase Pastor Jeffrey Peckham and Riverside Apostolic Church in Marshfield, Wisconsin and Pastors Dave Punzel and Brian Meyer from River of Life Apostolic Church in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Both churches had just recently acquired new buildings, so that was the story we decided to document.

After speaking with Pastor Peckham, we learned that Riverside had scheduled a special building dedication service on August 6th. So we packed up the cameras and our multitracking audio equipment, drove to Marshfield, and setup our gear the night before. Several speakers were featured after a full worship service, and our objective was to simply capture the entire event so we could build the story in post.

The story in Fort Atkinson was a bit different. The church had just been transferred to new leadership just prior to finally securing a permanent facility. So on August 28th, we packed up our gear and scheduled interviews with both pastors to discuss the transition as well as the details of the new building acquisition. After filming the entire service and multitracking the audio, we began the process of interviewing both pastors where we were able to document much of what made this story so amazing.

We had several options for both edits going into post because we had a significant amount of multicamera event footage to work with. For the Marshfield edit, we decided to produce a recap of the building dedication service relying on the special speakers as the primary dialogue sources with the worship service audio ducked underneath. For the Fort Atkinson edit, we decided to use the pastor interviews to tell the history behind the building purchase to the viewer while also ducking River of Life’s worship service audio under the dialogue.

Subtitles were added for the deaf and hard of hearing and 100 DVD’s were distributed to churches throughout the state of Wisconsin. The full short is available in HD in the slider above. To view additional imagery, please view this page from the sortable portfolio area of our homepage.
